Brand Profile
In 2016, our brand “for the love of a child” was created, which today exists as My Memi. The journey to where we are now has been long and demanding. At first, we scrupulously searched for locations in Poland where we could produce high-quality products under ethical employment conditions. We have carefully selected the highest quality natural yarns and materials, which, with proper care, will last for many years. As the company’s founder and owner, Daria Górniak, was – first of all – mother to one-year-old Weronika, she understood how important it was that products for children be made from natural, certified materials that are safe. In 2016, when it came time to create a brand name, no one expected it to be such an absorbing task. After a long thought, the hopeful business owner asked her one-year-old daughter what she wanted their brand to be called. Weronika, babbling, said one word clearly – ‘Memi’. And so the brand name stayed with us for our first few years in business. Weronika has been with her parents at every stage of the brand’s development. The girl could not imagine doing anything else in life other than making baby blankets. Ever since she learned to speak, she kept repeating the words ‘My Memi’. That’s why, in 2021, when it came time to expand our business, we came to the conclusion that our brand could not be called anything other than My Memi. The next step in brand refreshment was the choice of logo, which also turned out not to be an easy choice. And then Weronika has helped us once again. When she looked at all the designs, with childlike joy but also confidence, she pointed to one of the images and said: “This is my Memi”. This is how we chose the logo that now adorns every product, label, packaging and our website. And this is how the love of a child has shaped a brand made for children. Today, My Memi products can be purchased in several hundred shops in Poland and worldwide. The brand is constantly evolving, the product range is expanding, but the foundations of the brand have remained the same for years. Since the beginning, our products have been manufactured in Poland. And the materials they are made from are natural, gentle and safe. Thank you for putting your trust in us over the years and choosing our products.
Social Responsibility
The My Memi brand was created to produce high-quality products with social responsibility in mind. As a family business, we want to be sure that our actions do not harm our children and the children of their children. To be fair to our customers, employees and ourselves, we are taking specific measures in this regard.
Quality, durability and natural origin
Our support for a sustainable industry starts with the selection of yarns and, further down the line, with a knitting/weaving mill that can meet our high standards. All our fabrics are woven, dyed, printed and finished in Poland; only organic cotton muslin is produced in Western Europe.
One of the most important principles of the brand is to produce from natural and best quality yarns. The high standards imposed mean that the lifespan of our products is increased, and products with the My Memi label if cared for properly, will last for many years and will be enjoyed by other children.
We look very carefully at all yarns and fabrics and only choose those with natural origins for our productions. We don't like polyester and acrylic. Instead, we value merino wool, organic cotton, linen, as well as yarns made from eucalyptus and bamboo.
We were the first brand in Poland to introduce blankets made of eucalyptus yarn. Eucalyptus trees used for production are not uprooted but pruned, which creates the conditions for them to grow again. We should also mention that eucalyptus trees are considered to be among the fastest-growing trees in the world, so their regrowth takes place in a short time. The production of eucalyptus yarn is done using sustainable sources. Lands used for the production of eucalyptus do not compete with food-growing lands. The eco-friendly yarn manufacturing process is based on the closed-loop process, i.e., re-use of recycled process water. This keeps resource and energy consumption to a minimum. The product, made from eucalyptus yarn, is fully biodegradable, meaning that its fibres will naturally decompose under the right conditions. Only organic agents are used to produce the eucalyptus yarn, so it is chemical-free and will not leave environmentally harmful traces when biodegraded. The eucalyptus yarn is sourced from a reputable Austrian company that is the holder of numerous awards, distinctions and certificates (at the production level as well as the final product).
We offer products made from merino wool, sourced from sheep that live in extreme weather conditions where temperatures range from -20 to 30 degrees. The method of wool extraction is entirely safe and non-invasive. Sheep shearing takes place twice a year in specific months. For the rest of the months, merino sheep live peacefully and overgrow in an ecological environment. The natural habitat makes the wool sourced from the sheep fully biodegradable.
We also offer our customers products made from organic cotton. The plantations on which the cotton is grown undergo a series of controls regarding the quality of the raw material and respect for workers' rights (Fair Trade certificate). During cultivation, water consumption is reduced, and the surrounding water sources are carefully protected from pollution. Organic cotton is harvested by hand, which minimises contamination, so there is no need for chemical bleaching of the cotton.
Most of the products we offer are made of bamboo yarn, which is biodegradable, and its cultivation has no negative impact on the environment. The weaving mill we have chosen to produce with bamboo yarns carries out numerous researches on the fabrics, which confirm that they are anti-allergenic, anti-fungal and therefore beneficial to the skin. Research also shows that when bamboo is processed into fabric, its properties are retained. Our bamboo textile (including terry cotton) is produced in Poland, thanks to which we are sure of the reliability of the research and tests carried out.
Relationships
The cultivation of the raw materials we use is just as important to us as the conditions under which the workers are employed. Therefore, we produce in Polish knitting and sewing plants, being sure that workers are fairly paid, and our yarns are free from harmful chemicals. People-to-people relationships are very important to us, which is why we do not limit ourselves to working together on a one-off project basis. We enter into long-term co-operation with our subcontractors, based on trust. We are also not strangers to each other as individuals; our production facilities are visited by each other regularly.
Our subcontractors comply with the principle of equal employment, so we directly impact reducing inequality among employees.
Environment
In line with environmentally friendly sales, some of our products are offered in a cotton bag to minimise the use of plastic wrapping. What's more, we are working towards a complete transition to eco-friendly products in our operations.
By using local producers and suppliers, the carbon footprint resulting from the transport of our products is minimised. We undertake numerous wholesale co-operations with foreign shops so that the distribution route to customers is shortened.
Although we have done a lot, we are aware that there is still much to be done in terms of our company's environmental performance. We are committed to reducing our use of plastic, but as not all orders come directly from My Memi warehouse - some are shipped from external companies - we must meet the packaging conditions they impose. However, we are constantly looking for workable solutions to support the environment.
