THE SPRAYED EFFECT: the dripping art of Pollock by Oriana Picceni - Style Piccoli

Illustrated books are a precious chest of beautiful stories and different views on the world and everyday life. And each of us can seek the story interpretation that we feel closer with, entering it with our sensitivity, through our experiences and visions. Just like when you look at a work of art.
This is why we decided to dedicate a series in four episodes to talk about fashion through books devoted to some great artists' art, life, and skills. On the pages, we will be looking for style details and evocative patterns that may reference to the latest trends or, vice versa, inspire new ways

Jackson Pollock by Fausto Gilberti (Corraini Editore - Phaidon)

Jackson Pollock DRIPPING DANCE by Federica Chezzi, Angela Partenza, with illustrations by Daniela Goffredo (Maria Pacini Fazzi, Fondazione Ragghianti)

Talking about Jackson Pollock to children means showing them a part of art history free from constraints. Literally free to move to create. The main exponent of Action Painting, Pollock represents the idea of giving life to one's emotions in a completely unconventional way. He did it in the Forties and Fifties, first in New York and then in his countryside house, where he lived with his wife Lee Krasner with whom he shared a passion for art throughout his life. Dripping, the particular painting technique that gave life to some of the most loved and debated canvases in the history of art, also inspired many designers, from Dolce&Gabbana to Alexander McQueen. And in the little ones' wardrobe, it adds a playful touch that connects the child's imagination with the artistic reference.

If you're looking for ideas, check out the gallery below, where you can find some inputs from me:

Sonia Rykiel Enfant's eco-fur jacket is irresistible, looking like it came straight out of a Pollock canvas
Graffiti effect colorful brushstrokes are featured on the M'A Kids crewneck – a piece fit for a real artist
The tonal colors of this Jacob Cohen padded jacket are perfect to spend a creative day outdoors
Splashes of light and stars for Emu Australia's ankle boots, perfect to run around with friends
This Infantium Victoria suit, with dripping effect landscape designs, would have been the ideal uniform for Pollock
For those who love to express their personality with colors, this Wolf&Rita dress, with its flowers made as splashes of color, is perfect
The Ocra ‘sprayed’ pony ankle boots could have been the perfect shoes for our Pollock
