Emilie Roncal, photographer and mother of three, tells us about how she’s spending her days at home in San Francisco, the city where she moved with her family last summer, after 20 years in Paris.

Have you set up a special routine, for this period of time?
Actually, the week is super organized because the children have distance school almost continuously between 9 am and 3 pm, Monday to Friday. I take the opportunity to work between 9 and 11 am in my studio, then I supervise Daphne’s homework, the youngest, and we prepare lunch together... The afternoon, after homework, is devoted to recreational activities: theater, watercolors, DIY... and sport in the backyard.

Do you still work? How do you manage that?
I only work from 9 am to 11 am right now. I just finished my last orders, I use this time to work on personal photo projects.

What do you like most about your job?
The endless creative possibilities! I am passionate about photography work that has no limit: it can go on for a lifetime and evolve constantly. On a practical level, the work is quite flexible and allows me to partly work from home.

Do you have any tips to keep the spirits high?
Some yoga when you wake up, eating vitamins and light to keep fit and motivated, keep a creative diary where to put your ideas, your desires, your doubts in ... This allows putting down your thoughts and envision the future with serenity.

Do you or your children have a favorite outfit for this time at home?
The favorite outfit of the moment is leggings or comfortable pants, a soft T-shirt.

Is there a positive message you get from this situation?
The fact that, if we want, we can really change the world ... We all know how to mobilize for coronavirus in a very short time ... So why not do it for a greener world? Pollution is falling everywhere right now, we have to learn something from it.

What’s the first thing you want to do, after this confinement?
Go to the countryside and walk for hours!

Do you have any nice Instagram accounts to share, for the children and for yourself?
I like the very creative account of @mmemoutarde with lots of great activities for children. For me personally, @atrapenard or that of the Jeu de Paume gallery. Reading and watching beautiful photos calms me down.
