Talking inspiration and parenting with Rebecca Poier, founder & editor-in-chief of North American children’s fashion and lifestyle magazine Poster Child, and mum of Isla (3) & Liam (10months).

How are you juggling work and looking after the little one?
Quarantine has made caring for active little ones more challenging! I returned to work part-time after having Liam and worked 2 days a week at my office in my parent’s home. My kids love spending time with their grandparents, so it was great for everyone. Now, I work during naps and after bedtime!

Where do you find inspiration for the magazine?
A lot of our inspiration comes from tradeshows, especially Pitti Bimbo. We love runway shows and seeing future trends come to life. We also follow trend forecasters, like WGSN, our readers often love to see adapted versions of their favorite trends on their minis.

Which summer collections are you most excited about?
A lot! FISH & KIDS, LONGLIVETHEQUEEN, Ammehoela, the new society, THE MIDDLE DAUGHTER are just a few; and Maison Mangostan for footwear!

How do you keep the children entertained?
We’ve been enjoying simple activities: baking, crafting, a bike ride or a walk. I’ve also introduced some of my old toys to my daughter. We’ve been having lots of tea parties with my old toy tea set.

Is there any positive you draw from this situation?
I’m so encouraged to see kids brands donating, raising awareness and supporting each other with extra kindness and compassion. Challenging times either bring out the best or worst in someone. I’m grateful and proud that we're a part of this awesome community of great designers and businesses.

What brands are you checking on Instagram?
Spending most days in pajamas or sweats, I’ve been gravitating towards loungewear, like @papercapeco, @petiteplumesleepwear, @polkadot.england, @littlemoonsociety, @littlesleepies, @esmeinc & @babynoomie. We're just finishing up a post with a bunch of our faves! Stay tuned.
