We had a chat with Mélanie Hoepffner, the fashion editor of MilK Magazine. She told us about fashion in confinement, finally giving meditation a go and the importance of seeing her son losing his front teeth.
Where are you spending this period of time?
We went to the South West [of France], because our future Parisian apartment is under construction. I am lucky to be in a house with a garden, with my partner and my sister. There are many of us taking care of the children.
Have you set up a special routine, for this time?
In the morning, it’s school time for my eldest son. In the afternoon, we do workshops, we make bread, lots of cakes. It’s a bit like a vacation because we stay in the place where I used to spend my summers as a child: it’s like living an endless day, every morning I wake up wondering what can we do today? The same as yesterday!
Are you still working?
I work less than before because the shootings are of course canceled, I work when the children are asleep.
What do you like most about your job?
I like finding new photographers and supporting young fashion brands.
Do you have any tips to keep the spirits high, at the moment?
We started meditation! My son is quite receptive to the Petit BamBou method.
I’ve been doing it myself for a few days, it’s really good I do it more easily than yoga, which I skip quite often. I also like the sports videos from Lucile Woodward and her Koala Challenge. Very fun and tiring!
Do you or your children have a favorite outfit for this time at home?
I am obviously a fashion fan and I admit that my children are not as well dressed as they used to be… But I let them do it. My 2-year-old daughter loves being shirtless and thinks she is a boy. I'm still trying to put together a few simple looks. I love Poudre Organic, Co label. Play Up. Babaa. Beautiful materials and beautiful colors.
Is there any positive message you get from this situation?
I'm still looking for the positive side ... maybe, that I finally started to meditate, after wanting to do it for 2 years. Ah yes, and my son lost his two front teeth. It's a detail but I'm happy when I look at it, I think I'm lucky because I can see it every day.
What's the first thing you want to do, after this confinement?
Good question, surely explore our future apartment. We have been waiting for it for a long time.
Do you have any nice Instagram accounts to share, to keep the children busy?
I really like @c.lairdutemps @vik_and_paule @ledadashop
