The extraordinary protagonist of incredible adventures and independent and empowered role model Pippi Longstocking will have a dedicated area at Pitti Bimbo, in the Cavaniglia Pavilion: “Pippi at Pitti.”
Iconic objects, heritage pieces, tables, and collectible books celebrate a character who, since being created in 1945 by Astrid Lindgren, has never ceased to charm with her charisma.
And of course, fashion could not be missing. In fact, “Pippi a Pitti” will feature the refined garments made by Illustrabimbi, which offer - through the original drawings by Ingrid Vang Nyman - blouses, dresses, placemats, covers, and accessories, in eco-sustainable fabrics.
The independent, creative, unconventional girl knows the value of friendship, having a bond with animals, and joy. "If you are very strong, you must also be very kind," is one of her many mottos. And who could blame her? Her values also inspired the "Pippi of Today" campaign launched in 2020 by The Astrid Lindgren Company in partnership with Save the Children to help girls fleeing war and poverty. The initiative, which continues into 2022, sees the participation of over 60 partners worldwide and has raised 2 million euros in support of migrant girls so far.
